Why join a Cheerleading Squad?
Half - time shows, games....what would they be like without the cheerleaders?
Answer: Boring ! Support your league !! Show your spirit and learn great skills for your resume like: team work, on time performance and discipline. It's time consuming and a lot of hard work, but being on a Cheerleading Squad really pays off !
Just thinking about a Cheerleading Squad?
Here are some skills you may need:
* Be ready to really sell (perform) a sideline cheer or chant.
* Be ready to do jumps, tumbling and splits.
* Attitude is everything.
* Learn how to memorize movement routines quickly.
* Learn to be precise in your movements.
* Watch your space and placement when practicing.
* Learn good vocal skills....how to be loud without killing your voice.
* Learn sportsmanship....Sell what you're doing with enthusiasm.
Practice a lot. Try different things you haven't done before. Try harder things or things you've seen girls in cheer do. If you have a friend in cheer ask her for some help on stretching warm ups or moves. Give it all you got and don't be shy! Show the full inner you!
Cheerleading Manners
Here are some good manners / rules that every cheerleader should follow ! It will make a lot of people change the way people think about cheerleaders. ( as in stereo-types !)
* At games, be nice to the other team! This is important, because if you act all snobby and stuck up, then your squad can get a bad reputation.
* If your squad is holding a fundraiser, then help out! Don't just let other girls do all the work ! You are a part of the squad so you need to do your share.
* Be a good school student.
*Don't do drugs. You will be kicked off the squad if this happens!
* Don't be a poor sport. If your team looses to a game, then it's going to be alright. Just say to yourself that it was only a game. Shake hands with the other team cheerleaders. They will think highly of you !
* If your crowd is boo-ing the other team, then you must tell them to stop. It is very rude. How would you feel if people did that to your squad? Not so good !
